Metal Steel Floor and Roof Deck

1. Material Specification


Common Grades: Q235B, Q345B (Chinese standard); ASTM A36, ASTM A653 (American standard); S235JR, S355JR (European standard)


Strength Requirements: Yield strength ≥ 235–355 MPa, tensile strength ≥ 375–550 MPa, elongation ≥ 15%
Application Note: High-rise buildings or heavy-load floors are recommended to use high-strength steel grades (e.g., Q345B, S355JR)


2 Typical Models (Taking Corrugated Deck as an Example)


YX75-230-690: Corrugation height 75 mm, wave pitch 230 mm, effective width 690 mm


YX51-250-750: Corrugation height 51 mm, wave pitch 250 mm, effective width 750 mm


YX35-125-750: Corrugation height 35 mm, wave pitch 125 mm, effective width 750 mm (suitable for light-load floors)


3. Mechanical Performance Requirements


Bending strength: The bending deflection under design load shall not exceed L/200 (L is the span of the deck)
Shear capacity: The shear resistance of the deck at the support shall meet the requirements of GB 50017 or AISC 360
Composite performance: For composite steel deck, the bond strength between the deck and concrete shall be ≥ 0.2 MPa


4. Fire Resistance


The fire resistance limit of the steel floor deck system is determined by the thickness of the concrete slab and the protective layer:Concrete thickness ≥ 100 mm: Fire resistance limit ≥ 1.0 h


Concrete thickness ≥ 120 mm: Fire resistance limit ≥ 1.5 h


For fire-resistant buildings, fireproof coating (thickness ≥ 20 mm) can be applied to the bottom of the deck


5. Manufacturing and Installation Standards


 Manufacturing Tolerances Thickness tolerance: ±0.05 mm Width tolerance: ±2 mm
Corrugation height tolerance: ±1 mm Flatness: The deviation per meter length shall not exceed 3 mm


6. Installation Requirements


The deck shall be lapped on the steel beam, and the lapping length shall be ≥ 50 mm


The deck shall be fixed with self-drilling screws or welding, and the spacing of fasteners shall be 300–500 mm


Before pouring concrete, the deck shall be temporarily supported to prevent excessive deflection
